Reading Notes: Mouse and Mouser #2

In this story, the mouse went to visit the Cat. The Cat was sitting behind the door in the hall, spinning.

"What are you doing my lady?" said the Mouse.

"I'm spinning old breeches," she said.

The Mouse then goes on to say that he hopes she's able to wear them for a long time, and the Cat says that she will wear them and tear 'em.

When the Mouse says he was sweeping his room, the Cat says the cleaner he will be because of it.

When the Mouse says he found a silver sixpence, the Cat says he will be richer because of it.

When the Mouse says he went to the market, the Cat responds the further he went.

When the Mouse says he bought a pudding, the Cat says the more meat he will have.

When the Mouse says he put it in the window to cool, the Cat responds he will be able to eat it faster.

When the Mouse confronts the Cat to say that the Cat at it, the Cat says he will eat the Mouse too!

Then, the Cat springs onto the Mouse and kills him.

I thought that this was a clever story, although I wasn't a huge fan of the way each character repeated everything they said twice. I think it would be fun to recreate this story but write it in a different way without all the repeating, and adding more details about the setting and maybe adding a background between the Cat and the Mouse so you know more about their relationship.
