Reading Notes: The Legend of the Rice #2

In this story, it goes back to the early days of the Earth, when everything was better than how it is now. Men and women were stronger and more beautiful, fruit trees were sweeter, and rice, which was the food of the people, was larger.

Rice was all people could eat, and when it was ripe, it fell from the stalks and rolled into the villages. When the rice became larger and more plentiful throughout the year, a widow told her daughter that their granaries were too small and that they needed to build larger ones.

So they pulled them down but the new one was not yet ready to be used. The rice was ripe, but the rice came rolling in where the work was happening. The window was angry, "Could you not wait until we were ready? You bothered us when we did not want to be bothered yet."

The rice then broke into a thousand piece and said that they would wait in the fields until they were wanted. From then on, rice has been a small grain and the people of Earth must gather it themselves.

I thought this story was interesting but honestly kind of hard to follow and I think that the story I read last night will be a better match for my storytelling this week. I did think that I could possibly make this story about blueberries or something or make it related to animal food for the zoo and getting it ready for the zookeeper to feed the animals possibly!
