Reading Notes: The Lioness and the Ostrich #1

In this story, there was a lioness that roared - but the ostrich roared at the same time. The lioness followed to ostrich's roar to where he was, and they met up. The lioness told the ostrich to roar - and he did, and then the lioness roared. Their roars were equal.

The lioness told the ostrich that he was her match, and that they should hunt together. So when they saw an antelope nearby, they went for it, and the lioness caught one. The ostrich killed many more than the lioness did, by the claw on his foot. When they met afterwards, the lioness saw how many more the ostrich had killed.

Since the lioness had young cubs, they all decided to eat the meat of the antelopes and the ostrich drank the blood. Later that night, they went to sleep. While the ostrich was sleeping, the cubs stayed up to play with each other. They noticed that the ostrich had no teeth in his mouth and told their mother that it was insulting to her that they were claiming themselves to be equal to one another. They thought that they should fight it out, so they woke up the ostrich to do so.

The ostrich then told the lioness to go to the other side of the ant hill to start the fight. Suddenly, the ostrich hit the ant hill in her direction and then clawed her in the liver. She died, and the ostrich won.

Because my portfolio is zoo themed, I decided to only read stories now that I have to do with animals so I can keep within that. I liked this story because although the lioness and the ostrich were very different, they worked together at first. I was disappointed at the end when they fought each other and ostrich ended up killing the lioness, but when I retell this story I will definitely be changing the plot to make it a happier ending.
