Capri, Italy - My Favorite Place

Last summer, I studied abroad in Italy with the OU Journey program. I was able to see some beautiful cities, but visiting Capri definitely took the #1 spot as my favorite place.

During my trip, I visited Capri twice and loved it even more the second time. It is a small island off the coast of Western Italy, known for their love of lemons and breathtaking views. The island is made up of two cities; Capri, at the base, and Anacapri at the highest point.

In Anacapri, there are dozens of lemon-themed shops. They sell lemon-flavored candy, lemon-flavored alcohol, lemon-scented soaps, painted lemons on dinner plates... there were also many lemon trees planted.

Because Capri is an island, you must take a boat from a coastal town to get to there. I left both times from Sorrento. Besides the few boating marinas on opposite sides of the island, the outside view of the island is of rocky, green-covered cliffs.

  1. Oh, what gorgeous pictures, Lauren! And as you can guess, Capri is also a site of legend and story... plus Cumae is nearby, the gateway to the Underworld! Maybe you will even want to do an Italian project for class... there are a lot of Italian story collections you can find online; Italian books at the Freebookapalooza, and of course all the Greco-Roman stories too. Italy is very much a land of stories! :-)
